If we don't give up single-use plastics today, there will be more plastics in the sea by 2050 than fish. It's a sad consideration, but we have to repeat it over and over if we want our Planet to recover. The reason? Even today they are 11 million tons of plastic that end up in the seas around the world, causing inestimable damage to animals and ecosystems. How did we get here?

This is well explained by a documentary film created to support the awareness campaign against single-use plastics promoted by the Oikos Institute as part of the Life Beyond Plastic project, aimed at saving our waters and raising awareness towards a concrete reduction in the use of single-use plastics.

2050: Marine Chronicles is the title of the campaign's mockumentary, set in a dystopian future in which plastic has completely changed the sea and our lives.

It is 2050 and the four stories are set in an Puglia that has seen its sea change and with it the lives of the inhabitants. In the four stories: "The bag hunter", "The microplastic chef", "The packaging collector" and "The bottle fisherman", 4 characters move in a scenario in which the apocalypse is not a projection of a near future but a present to be avoided through collective action that starts from personal responsibility.

    Why 2050?

The idea behind this project stems from a fact, from a scientific evidence now known to all: if we do not give up single-use plastic today, in 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the sea.

A terrible data from which the creative idea developed by VICEVERSA Studio per Oikos Institute, who wanted to take this data by transforming it into a journey through time where men, sea and plastic coexist in a surreal reality, trying to build a delicate and suggestive story plan, in which the viewer can initially immerse himself completely and feel however immediately after the short circuit of this immersion, the disorientation that is a prelude and an invitation to reflection, awareness, action.

Through the website and social channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) users will be able not only to preview the docufilm but also to engage and share small daily actions to reduce the consumption of single-use plastic.
