Let's talk about theNational Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), one of the largest in the Spanish-speaking world. Until about 70 years ago, it occupied a series of ancient palaces and buildings but since 1943, it has its own camps designed by architects Mario Pani and Enrique del Moral and a team of over 60 designers.

Inside there are university buildings, sports facilities such as the Olympic Stadium, the cultural center, the Central Library and several museums, all surrounded by vast gardens. Many of the buildings are covered with murals painted by some of the best known artists in Mexican history, such as Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros.

The peculiarity is that modern architecture blends with the pre-Hispanic Mexican tradition. Among the most characteristic buildings, there is the Central Library: 10 floors covered with huge mosaic murals with motifs Aztecs and Spaniards depicting the ancient history of Mexico.

Each of the four walls represents an era, the north wall depicts the pre-Hispanic, the south the colonial past, the eastern one the contemporary, while the western wall the University. The frescoes were made from Juan O'Gorman and the tiles come from all over the country, that's why their colors are so beautiful and different.
