The shapes repeated in a rhythmic way are one of the secrets of nature and one of the visible ways in which it manifests itself. Can we be good enough to recreate them? A Japanese artist went to work to create perfect spheres. It is about hand embroidered spheres by a Japanese lady of 88 years.
He had started his own project at the age of 60 and over time he was able to create a real collection of colored spheres. The technique employed for their creation originated in China, before being imported to Japan. It is a fascinating form offolk art.
In the creation of the spheres there is a component linked to recycling. In the past, the spheres were made by parents and grandparents, as a gift for children and grandchildren, starting from the yarn obtained from the old kimono. The spheres were an auspicious gift on the occasion of the New Year.
Tickets with gods were placed inside the spheres good wishes messages dedicated to those who received them, or small objects capable of producing pleasant sounds, for example small bells.
