Pink Floyd are back together after almost 30 years to record an anti-war song in Ukraine and the video hits straight to the heart

After 28 years, Pink Floyd get back together and release an anti-war song in Ukraine. The voice is from Andriy, from the Ukrainian band Boombox

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

It took almost 30 years and, alas, a war, to hear the unmistakable sound of Pink Floyd: they, or at least some of them, are back together to publish a song in support of the Ukrainian people. "Hey Hey Rise Up" is the title that has a very specific origin. The proceeds will go to humanitarian aid.

The track sees the collaboration of David Gilmour and Nick Mason with bassist Guy Pratt, Nitin Sawhney on keyboards, with the vocal performance of Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the Ukrainian band Boombox extrapolated from his Instagram post in which he sang a song in Sofiyskaya Square, Kiev.

Proceeds from the single - whose cover is a painting of Ukraine's national flower, the sunflower, designed by Cuban artist Yosan Leon - will go to the Ukrainian People's Charity Ukraine Humanitarian Relief Fund.

Where does "Hey Hey Rise Up" come from

“Oh, The Red Viburnum In The Meadow”, narrated the Ukrainian folk song sung by Andriy in that square, strong words of protest that were written during the First World War. This same song then spread all over the world during the last month as a protest against Russia's invasion of Ukraine and, now, the title of the Pink Floyd track derives from the last phrase of this heartfelt song.

The cover of the single is a direct reference to the woman who was seen giving sunflower seeds to Russian soldiers, telling them to carry them in their pockets so that once they died, the sunflowers would grow. While the video for "Hey Hey Rise Up" was shot by director Mat Whitecross:
