Reducing CO2 emissions and guaranteeing a future for the planet and humanity cannot ignore our eating habits. Scientists and experts now agree on the need to eliminate or significantly reduce the meat consumption and animal derivatives and, in recent years, the alternative to traditional steak.

Among options available there are various preparations based on "fake meat" generally obtained from mixtures of legumes, cereals and flavorings, and lately we hear more and more often about synthetic meat, a food equal in all respects to meat, but synthesized without killing animals .

Thinking about including a laboratory-built food in our diet may make some people horrified, but perhaps using it synthetic meat for feeding pets could increase the success of these products.

A company in the United States, Bond Pet Foods, is working on just that: producing synthetic meat to make snacks and treats for dogs and cats. For the time being, the company has managed to produce bars based on synthetic chicken proteins, made from real proteins.

How it works? To begin with, the proteins are taken from an animal, in this case a hen, which however is not killed; the procedure does not even cause pain to the animal. Once the sample has been taken, the proteins are multiplied thanks to the action of yeast, through fermentation processes similar to those used to produce beer and some cheeses. Cultured proteins are identical to those of chicken and, once dried, are ready to be mixed with other ingredients to make dog and cat food.

The final result is a product identical to that obtained from slaughtered animals, with the same nutritional value but without suffering, without killing, without hormones and antibiotics, without deforestation, land consumption, waste of water and energy.
