This Jack Russel was in danger of drowning, but he was saved in a truly brilliant way

To rescue a Jack Russell who ended up in a swamp, the rescuers put in place a very original plan, which worked

After wandering away from her owner during a walk, Minnie - a three-year-old dog - found herself mired in a swamp, where she remained for a couple of days, seriously risking drowning. A terrible nightmare that luckily ended with a happy ending, thanks to a decidedly epic rescue.

Minnie, purebred dog Jack Russell, she fled on January 13 while she was with her human mom Emma, who accidentally took her leash off the street. The dog then entered a reed bed and after a couple of hours she was spotted in the mudflats of Langstone. For a full two days, the rescue team of the Denmead Drone Search & Rescue attempted to rescue her, but the area was too difficult to reach due to the swampy terrain. Even with the use of kayaks, the volunteers were not able to retrieve it, also because Minnie tended to move away.

The fear of the owner and the team was that the poor dog would end up drowning, with the arrival of high tide

So the rescuers thought of putting in place a brilliant plan: to use a drone and attack one sausage to a thread to attract the animal and push it to a safer area.

We attached a sausage weighing about 50 grams to the drone. - explains the team of rescuers - We did a risk assessment in the area and then we flew the drone towards her. We didn't think it would work, but it did. We managed to lure Millie 300 meters into a safe zone. Luckily she stayed in that area, so we prevented her from drowning.

But after devouring the hungry sausage, Minnie moved to a busier area, near the A27 and later to an industrial area, where she finally went to meet her owners, wagging her tail happily. The dog was then loaded into the car and taken to the vet for the necessary investigations. Fortunately, the little girl was fine. She only needed rest, food and warmth, as well as pampering.
