Buying used Ikea furniture, how does it work?

For those who do not want to spend (by choice or due to reduced economic possibilities) the figures for new furniture, Ikea offers the possibility of buying second-hand items with a view to recycling and reusing furniture in good condition.

Customers who want to sell their furniture, on the other hand, can return them to the shop where they were bought and get a sum up to 60% of the original price with home collection, based on some parameters with which the maximum repurchase price is calculated.

"We will start on January 1, 2018. The pilot project will be limited to the Ikea Spreitenbach furniture store", says the spokesman for the Swedish giant, Manuel Rotzinger.

Currently, for three months, cabinets, bookcases, dressers, dressers, tables, chairs, armchairs, office furniture and beds can be returned, provided they are

“Fully assembled, safe for use and in good condition,” explains Rotzinger.

In January and February, Ikea will also resume the most popular products of the last decade. However, instead of cash or wire transfer, customers will receive a good, un voucher to spend in Ikea stores for the purchase of other products.

According to what has been disclosed, the purpose of the project stems from a survey that Ikea carried out two years ago on 2000 living in Switzerland. It turned out that many had many Ikea items no longer used in basements and garages. Two thirds of respondents said they were in favor of returning furniture in exchange for a shopping voucher.
