How to recycle i old oil cans? To make a contribution capable of offering new life to waste containers, here is the project Custom Barrel. Unused oil cans can result in a foosball and many pieces of furniture truly original.
The Custom Barrel project was born in Cremona in 2008 from a passion of Paolo and Simone, two young people, now in their thirties, who had the intuition of being able to obtain something special from recovery of oil drums. Their activity began by obtaining the space for processing in a corner of a Cremonese farmhouse.
They have therefore set to work for to recover the old oil drums and to take care of their next one transformation and customization in original furnishing elements. The first creation, which dates back to 2009, was a custom seat with a well-known American car brand. Each Barrel creation varies in color, graphics, finish and padding according to requests of the interested parties.
The two young, passionate about handicraft and design both for profession and for pleasure they have seen in an abandoned oil drum a great creative and transformative potential. Furthermore, it was necessary to tear it away from the corrosion of time and from the irremediable path towardspollution ecosystem.
This is how the barrels are transformed into armchairs, seats, cabinets, containers, tables, mirrors, clocks, paintings, turntables, table football, lamps and much more. Sustainability, together with recycling and craftsmanship, 100% handmade, are the main points of the project. Each barrel is reinterpreted and reworked, taking inspiration from modernity, contemporaneity and industrial design. Among the most original creations we find the table football and the turntable.
Barrel Fubal it is a “foosball table”, which takes its name from “fubalin”, the Cremonese dialect name for table football. The creation is proposed in a revised and resized version, for play one on one, starting from the recovery of an old oil barrel. Among the materials used we find iron, copper and red clay.
Il Record player instead it has the distinction of being all concentrated in one transportable console. It is an original seventies plate, which allows you to reconcile the taste of vinyl with the most modern technologies represented by smartphones and mp3s, always in the name of creative recycling.
