This time it's official: the theme park based on the famous films by Hayao Miyazaki will open on November 1, 2022 in Japan, in Aichi prefecture. This was announced by the Ghibli studio on its Twitter account.

The site is currently under construction within a large area in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, for a total cost of 34 billion yen (more than 260 million euros), and one of the five areas of the theme park includes a life-size model of the house where the main characters of the 1988 classic 'My Neighbor Totoro' lived, evoking the lush scenery of the Japanese countryside.

However, the opening will be partial: on 1 November 2022 it will be possible to visit only one section. For two other areas, the one inspired by 'Princess Mononoke', the story of a girl raised by wolves in a forest, and the films 'Kiki's Delivery Service' and 'Howl's Moving Castle' will open next year.
