    Canadian writer and artist Douglas coupland has given life to a truly original artistic project to raise awareness of the theme of chewing gum thrown on the ground carelessly. A created a large fiberglass head on which people could stick chewing gum. It is an example of the chewing-gum art, which allows chewing gum to be transformed into works of art.

    In this way it is possible to have an idea of ​​the number of chewing gums that are thrown on the streets day after day. Gumhead was installed a Vancouverin Canada, in the forecourt of the Vancouver Art Gallery, in Howe Street.

    It was exposed from May to September 2014, creating many problems due to the summer heat, with the melting of the chewing gums, which inevitably attracted insects.

    According to the artist, Gumhead's installation turned out a real success. It has helped ordinary citizens understand the problems associated with common chewing gum, which is not biodegradable and which is very difficult to remove from the streets.


    Gumhead turned out to be an interactive work of art. The Canadian artist had never seen so many people approach his creations and interact for their realization. Chewing-gums have turned into an artistic means of coloring this original giant head, but also for raise awareness of the waste problem in the city and a greater civic sense.
