In the middle of New York, in Madison Square Park, in May she popped up a ghost forest really impressive. But in this case, Mother Nature has nothing to do with it, it is a work of art, Ghost Forest, by the architect and landscape designer Maya Lin Ting.
Installation born to raise awareness of the terrible consequences of climate change. The 49 protagonist trees are ghost-cedars, completely bare, up to 20 meters high, skeletal and impressive.

Dead or dying trees, from the Atlantic, and to be precise from Pine Barrens, New Jersey. A coniferous forest located on the coast, compromised in part by deforestation practices and the threats of climate change.
The title "Ghost Forest" was not chosen at random. It is a real phenomenon that affects large tracts of forests, compromised by the infiltration of salt water into the ground due to rising seas (especially in coastal regions), tectonic shifts or extreme climatic events.

In addition to the ghost trees, the songs of birds and the sounds of endangered or extinct animals are the "soundtrack" of the installation, together with their names pronounced in the languages of the indigenous peoples who lived here before the settlers.
A work of art that should make us think!
