    Frida Kahlo seen from the eyes of one of the most famous Colombian photographers. Bologna hosts the images of Leo Matiz, photojournalist born in the magical Macondo of Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

    After the exhibition at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome and at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, it will be the Ono Contemporary Art gallery in Bologna to host the images that Matiz made of the famous Mexican artist.

    The photographic exhibition "Frida Kahlo. Photographs by Leo Matiz"Will be open from the 14 January to the 28 February 2016 and encloses 35 photographs in different formats. The photos dig into the image of Frida, immortalized in her hometown of Coyoacan in Mexico City. Fragments of the everyday life of the beloved and controversial artist, captured by the attentive gaze of Leo Matiz, who created an intimate portrait from his privileged point of view, that of the friendship that linked him to Frida.

    There are many personal aspects shown by the photographer and which recount some dramatic moments in the Mexican artist's life, such as the serious accident in which she was involved in September 1925. Space also for love with the painter Diego Rivera.

    “I'm not dead and, what's more, I have something to live for; this something is painting ”. These are the words of Frida to her mother as soon as she meets her after the accident. "I paint myself because I spend a lot of time alone and I am the subject I know best".

    The images of Matiz they tell Frida's artistic maturation, placing her within the historical framework of a Mexico made up of revolution and war and together with joy and hope "of which Diego paints the humble beauty and Frida the interior equivalent".
