There are some things in life that remain unforgettable, imprinted in some corner of our being to the point that not even diseases like Alzheimer's can scratch them. The video of Marta C. González Saldaña, former prima ballerina of the New York Ballet of the 60s, now elderly and ill, is going around the world in these hours who, from her wheelchair, listening to the music of Swan Lake starts dancing.

Marta C Gonzalez, also known as Marta Cinta González, was a prima ballerina but, as she got older, she fell ill with Alzheimer's. You might think she has forgotten all about her glorious past but she is not like that at all. Listening to the composition of one of the most famous ballets of the nineteenth century, set to music by Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij, precisely the Swan Lake, the elderly woman "wakes up" from her torpor and begins to dance remembering perfectly the choreography she had interpreted hundreds of times during her career.

Mrs Gonzalez, now gone (the video is circulating in these hours shared by the Spanish group of music therapy - Música para Despertar, but in reality Marta died in 2019), comes alive and her hands spread, bringing her back to being the great dancer that was.

Despite being in a wheelchair, the woman completes the whole choreography with the upper body with elegance and grace. Impossible not to get excited, see for yourself.

The power of music, dance and lifelong passions are capable of defeating Alzheimer's as well. Marta will surely be continuing to dance in the sky.
