As is already the case, other everyday appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators and ovens are already equipped with labels. But from 26 September, with the Eco-design directive, the EU's energy labeling obligation will also be extended to boilers, heat pumps and water heaters.
According to the European Union, this will make it possible to save the families of the Old Continent around 30 billion euros by 2020.
“If your home is equipped with a conventional gas boiler that uses 20 MWh of energy per year, a new gas condensing boiler will save € 700 per year. A new boiler will pay off its original cost in just seven years but will also reduce energy consumption by over 20% " ensures Europe.
Not to mention the advantages in terms of reduction of the emissions. Numbers in hand, energy-efficient heating systems could save 528 TWh of electricity per year, avoiding the emission of 110 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. For their part, high-efficiency boilers and heat pumps could save 124 TWh of electricity, avoiding the emission of 26 million tons of CO2.
