A beautiful photographic project tells the introspective nature of an autistic child, showing us his world through the eyes of a father
He is about to end up run over, his mother saves himThe American photographer Timothy Archibald he began photographing his autistic son Elijah as a way to face the child's diagnosis, to better understand the situation, his role as a father, to accept his differences. So a few years ago he was born Echolilia, a project in which he tries to pour the frustrations of a father who does not "understand" his son, different from other children.
Elijah's habits and manners drove him crazy, until he started taking pictures and everything changed: by letting his guard down, overcoming his mental barriers, he managed to enter the world of his son. They are very intimate photos, which they tell about the introspective nature and the particular perspective of the child, showing us the world seen by his eyes.
As the work progressed, Elijah became more and more interested, suggesting different locations, poses, even self-portraits.
A camera and a little time, this was what they needed to get close, creating a shared language, thanks to which they can communicate without using words which otherwise neither of them would have understood.
