A turtle came ashore to lay its eggs but the swimmers took it back to the sea, believing it to be in trouble
A few days after the sad episode that took place Ginosa Marina, in the province of Taranto, we are forced to bring back one new unhappy story that has a turtle as its protagonist.
Only last weekend in fact, a specimen of Caretta caretta he had been dragged ashore by bathers and mistreated to take a selfie with the animal.
This time, however, one turtle landed ashore was disturbed by a group of people who tried to bring it back to marine waters.
It happened in Basilicata, in the Riva dei Greci locality: the poor animal, victim of human ignorance, he was looking for a suitable place to lay eggs out of the sea.
The turtle reached the beach and was digging in the sand but the bathersbelieving her to be in trouble, they thought of taking the specimen back to sea, not before taking numerous photos and filming.
As Gianluca Cirelli of WWF recalls for the umpteenth time, wild animals should not be touched.
If a wild specimen appears in distress, the competent authorities must be notified and there is no need to take initiatives.
Unfortunately we are once again faced with the lack of sensitivity of the citizens who, confused by the incident, not only disturbed the animal, but believing it in difficulty because sunk (it was digging) they put it back in the direction of the sea.
I want to remind you that wild animals must be left alone. If they are in difficulty, it is important to communicate to the competent authorities where the animal is and wait for their arrival, monitoring and trying not to let it go away - commented the researcher Cirelli on his Facebook wall.
