The trophy hunter who killed an endangered goat in Pakistan

There is no end to human stupidity. The man you see in the photo is an American hunter who has decided to pay good money just to experience the "satisfaction" of killing a specimen of mountain goat (markhor), a species that is potentially at risk of extinction in Pakistan.

Ignorance, barbarism, cruelty are just some of the words that come to mind when telling this sad story whose protagonist is a human being who chooses to kill an animal for fun and among other things paying a considerable amount: 110 thousand dollars!

Unfortunately we have already told you such stories several times. Hunting for particular or exotic animals, or trophy hunting, is still very popular, especially in the United States where most hunters set out in search of a prey they can brag about.

The latest feat in this sense is the work of Bryan Kinsel Harlan, American citizen who smiles after killing a rare mountain goat, symbol of Pakistan. The image was posted by the trophy hunter himself on the internet and of course generated the revolt of many people around the world.

In the video published on his Facebook profile (now no longer available, probably following the popular uprising against his gesture), Harlan is seen climbing a mountain in the Gilgit region, shooting the animal and then celebrating with the local guides. Eventually he pulls the goat by the horns and smiles. Obviously, the photo that immortalizes his trophy is also inevitable.

What we see in the photos is a markhor, a large wild goat with huge horns that lives in Pakistan, India, northeastern Afghanistan and the southern regions of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The species was included in 2015 in the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) among animals in serious danger of extinction given that less than 2500 adult specimens remained in the wild. Today it has moved on to classification "Potentially at risk" since, although hunting is allowed, there seems to be a recovery.

It was not the first time that humans have killed a Markhor and, in recent weeks, other Americans have visited Pakistan with the same goal, to bring home an animal trophy.

Those who have a minimum of common sense can only consider this a disgusting and even criminal activity since it threatens the already proven survival of wildlife on our planet.
