Kids playing football next to the city walls on a gloomy winter Sunday. So far nothing strange, indeed, almost rare in these times when cell phones and video games are the masters. Too bad, however, that a live turtle was used as a ball and kicked repeatedly. She was bleeding and was rescued just in time by a public green attendant.

It happened on Sunday afternoon in Grosseto, near the city walls, where, luckily, a green cleaner noticed and put an end to the macabre game, stealing the turtle from the feet of the very young, not yet teenagers, just in time. When asked for explanations, as the Tyrrhenian says, the boys, who now risk a complaint, would have replied: "It was there".

The man being on duty, called his wife Maria Grazia De Masi who took charge of the battered animal and, at the suggestion of the Enpa to which she had addressed, immediately contacted Sos Animali, the non-profit organization which on behalf of Regione Toscana is the only entity in charge of rescuing wildlife in difficulty for the provinces of Grosseto and Siena.

"The vet arrived immediately - says Maria Grazia De Masi on Facebook - and took over the turtle".

The animal that has sustained the carapace fracture, but is not in serious condition, will be kept under observation for 24 hours and then transferred to the Semproniano recovery center. In the meantime it is being considered whether or not to proceed with the complaint for animal abuse.

Atrocious acts such as this against animals are carried out more and more often by very young children who denote a lack of education and respect, but perhaps also an antisocial drift that should not be underestimated, as evidenced by the increase in acts of child zoocriminality documented in the Report. zoomafia 20018 from LAV:
