The news follows shortly on dossier presented by the protectionist organization Animals Asia at the end of last year. The report on the conditions of 27 bears on a bile farm highlighted the terrible conditions in which the animals were kept. Bears were described as emaciated, limbless, suffering from the presence of numerous open wounds.
The farm is just a few minutes from the charming tourist resort of Halong Bay, which is visited by millions of tourists every year. Bear bile is used in traditional medicine and nearly 2.000 bears in Vietnam are still imprisoned for this purpose - despite the practice being illegal since 1992.

The bears are microchipped and controlled by the government, although breeders continue to exploit them by clinging to the loopholes of the law. And that means bears are victims of terrible and constant abuse for the extraction of bile. But all is not lost. After the death of these four bears, in fact, there are still 23 left in the structure. And you have to save them.
Animals Asia founder and president Jill Robinson says:
“This is exactly what we feared, which is that the farmer was not looking after the bears at all. This is a question that goes beyond mere animal welfare - the farmer does not guarantee any of the most basic forms of care and these poor bears are starving. All of this is unacceptable and we will fight to free the remaining bears while continuing to promote the demise of the farms. This tragedy must end. There is still the possibility of a happy ending to the fate of the bears still alive. "
The founders of Animals Asia issued an open letter to the Head of Government Nguyen Tan Dung, requesting direct intervention and the confiscation of the remaining 23 specimens. "Now you need to make your voice heard before it's too late. Sign the open letter After you have signed it, forward it to all your acquaintances and ask them to do the same ”, asks the association.
