This is why babies should never be given water before they are six months old

The infant does not need to drink water, on the contrary this could even harm him very much.

Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

Babies under the age of six months should never drink water, even in hot weather, as it could even have fatal consequences

Never water babies! In fact, in the first year of life, but especially in the first six months, babies should never drink it, on pain of kidney complications. While adults are made up of 55-60% water, the child has about 75% on average. This means that even the smallest amount of water would affect the already delicate balance in a baby's body.

In short, even a small amount of water can overload the kidneys, leading in the most extreme cases to a dangerous condition called hyponatremia (too much water which dilutes the body's sodium levels).

Pediatricians have practically always said this and now some studies that focus on one data confirm it: among other things, also baby kidneys are still too immatureThis is why water can cause intoxication due to an imbalance of electrolytes such as sodium.

Put simply, the kidneys of newborns have not yet reached maturity to be able to metabolize sodium.

A Tech Insider video (BELOW) clearly explains the risks of infants consuming even the smallest amount of water. This can cause complications such as brain swelling, seizures and, in extreme cases, death.

And not only that: giving children water can also affect their nutrition and their ability to receive adequate nourishment, due to the level of satiety that is immediately perceived, as well as putting them at risk of Diarrhea (the water may not be clean and cause infections).

No water for children under six months, therefore, and not even if it is very hot outside. If the baby is exclusively breastfed, the mother's milk will already be able to satisfy every hunger or thirst need of the baby. But also the one in formula, which is composed of over 95% water. Generally, however, when you are breastfeeding you are already giving the baby all the water it needs, while providing "safe water" and protecting the baby.

When can we start offering water to children? According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, from six months old, when you start introducing baby food along with breast milk.
