A truly creepy image, which we never wanted to publish. Yet in 2019 we are still forced to witness scenes like this in which not only animals are brutally killed, but also bragging about their feats on social media.

Trophy hunters continue to stop at nothing or anyone. It doesn't matter if they are faced with endangered animals, cubs, sleeping lions or hibernating bears. The feat is to shoot and proudly put the photo on social media.

The photo you see was taken by Damian Aspinall, the English businessman, we talked about some time ago, who dedicates his life to saving gorillas.

The conservationist who has long been taking concrete action by investing his money in wildlife conservation has revived the image by defining these two smiling men as monsters.

There are few things more reprehensible than trophy hunting. These two monsters shot not just one, but two young elephants in ‘self defence’. We should be doing all we can to conserve these beautiful, intelligent animals. Not shooting them down for sport. #stopanimalcruelty #wildlifecrime #stophunting #banhunting #stoptrophyhunting #bantrophyhunting #protectwildlife #wildlifeconservation #aspinallfoundation #backtothewild

And the rain of criticism on the two was not long in coming. On Instagram, users did not spare the hunters by calling them reprehensible.

"We should do everything possible to preserve these beautiful and intelligent animals, not kill them for sport" and again: "heartbreaking and despicable, such a beautiful creature, died for nothing", finally "this hurts me deeply, I hate the lack of feelings in towards animals ".

Aspinall does not provide details on where the episode took place, nor the name of these two hunters who claim to have acted in self-defense. A version that clashes with the photo we see, where clearly, the intent is to brag about having killed a young (defenseless) and basically peaceful animal, if it is not disturbed in its natural habitat.
