While kayaking in Lake Tuusula, Finland, Pentti Taskinen spotted something strange emerging from the water in the mist. At first he thought she was an otter and, knowing that he could die of hypothermia if he didn't do anything, he tried to reach her as soon as possible.

He rowed with all his might until, once he got closer, the unexpected. In the middle of the lake, about 500 meters from the beach, floating in the cold and treacherous water was not an otter, but an owl. After a few seconds, the bird of prey has turned towards the canoe. The boy promptly photographed it, giving us all images that are as beautiful as they are unusual and dramatic.
Taskinen immediately helped the suspicious bird to get into his rescue vehicle, the kayak. It was freezing cold and it certainly would died early of hypothermia, but the fortuitous circumstances helped him to find a warm shelter on the cover of the boat.
The story has made the rounds of the locals, who immediately rushed to give life to a lively discussion on the reasons for the "sinking" of the owl in the lake. Some believe he lost his bearings while hunting, due to the thick fog. Others think she was attacked by one of her archenemies, such as the ravens.
Only the owl, which after drying and warming up has flown away, can know.
