Here is a summary of the thought of Manfred Arthur Max Neef, a well-known Chilean economist who has been traveling across the United States and Latin America for decades to work as a professor in universities.

In his opinion, the world seems forced into continuous growth and consumers are pushed to continue buying products that are made even when they are useless. Thus was born one of the most powerful institutions in the world, which is advertising.
The situation has now exceeded the limits and Max-Neef supports and neoliberalism is a failure extremely dangerous and brutal and that this very economic approach is the cause of all the horrors we are experiencing in the world.
The obsession with growth, in itself, is absurd, given that all living systems grow to a certain point and then necessarily come to a halt. For example, a tree stops growing when it reaches its maximum development.
The expert insists on the role of YouTube's ADS, but click on them,, which is very clear: making us buy what is not necessary, with money we do not have, often just to make ourselves beautiful in the eyes of others. The situation is serious but in his opinion the problem is not unsolvable.
The solution is an ecological vision of the economy: the green economy as understood by Max-Neef, unlike the traditional economy, it is at the service of life and is basically contrary to the characteristics of the current economic system.
While classical economics is based on a mechanical view, ecological economics has an organic view in which people as individuals play an important role.
The expert proposes 5 principles for a new economy:
1) The economy is at the service of people, not vice versa.
2) Development has to do with people and life, not with objects.
3) Growth and development are not the same and development does not necessarily require growth.
4) No economy is possible outside the services provided by ecosystems.
5) Permanent growth is impossible since the economy is a subsystem of a finite system (the biosphere). Hence, growth cannot be infinite.
Il fundamental principle for the birth of a new economy in reality it is only one: no economic interest, in any case, can be above respect for life. Quite the opposite in comparison to what we have achieved today with the neoliberal economy, in the words of Max-Neef.
Let's think again about how many women, men and children work as slaves in the world, without any rights. Will the 'greats' of the planet sooner or later change their economic vision in favor of sustainable development and the well-being of citizens?
