Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

Chicco drew some Isofix bases defective seggiolino Kiros i-Size. In fact, during the crash tests, the model showed a series of critical issues, so much so that the European automobile consortium and consumer organizations, including Altroconsumo, anticipated the release of the test results expected in May. In particular, as confirmed by the latest laboratory tests, in the event of a frontal or side impact the seat can detach from the base and be thrown into the passenger compartment, exposing children to the risk of injury.

Pending the free replacement campaign announced by Chicco, the seat can still be used only if secured with the car seat belts. The Isofix base supplied, on the other hand, must not be used.

How to recognize defective models

As anticipated, Chicco will provide for a free replacement of all defective Isofix bases. In the meantime, he has released some useful information for recognizing faulty seats:

• these only include the models distributed starting from July 2020, we are talking about a limited quantity of 1984 units;

• it is also important to consider the approval label on the base of the seat: the approval number of the defective ones is 030059;

• a last element to recognize a risk base is the date shown on the traceability label (on a white background): the dates between 23/11/2019 and 19/11/2020 are included.

What to do if you have a Chicco Kiros i-Size car seat?

While waiting for the spare part to ensure its stability, if you have a Chicco Kiros i-Size car seat, do not use it with the supplied Isofix base. The advice is to use it anyway, but fasten it with the car seat belt. In fact, the test confirmed good protection in the event of an accident: the seat is safe as long as the seat belt is positioned correctly.
