The idea came to the Swedish audio-streaming giant after discovering that nearly 74% of pet owners in the UK play or play music for their pets. And a quarter even claimed to have even seen their pet dance to music.
So why not create playlists for our 4-legged friends? After all, one of the most popular features of Spotify is precisely the ability to create playlists that satisfy even the most sought after tastes. But never before had anyone thought of extending this possibility to animals as well.
Il pet playlist generator (spotify.com/pets), which only debuted yesterday, allows you to select the type of pet from among cat dog and even lizard, bird o hamster. Once you have chosen the pet, you have to answer some questions, for example if the cat is more energetic or relaxed, more shy or friendly, etc.
It is also possible to add a photo of the furry person in question and the name to make the playlist official. After entering all this information, Spotify defines the list of recommended songs for that animal, calculated on the basis of the owner's personal tastes in music and the answers that have been provided on the character of those who actually have to listen to them.
But what is basically proposed to dogs, cats and other animals? The Pet Playlists consist of around 30 tracks di relaxing music, reassuring stories and messages acted by actors and useful to relieve the stress of pets when they are alone.
A more lively dog will need rhythmic music while a shy cat is preferable to listen to melodic songs, just to give examples.
Spotify claimed to have partnered with pet experts to create the algorithm that generates the playlist.
