A homeless man risked his life to save six dogs and ten cats from the flames who were trapped in an animal shelter. It happened a few days ago in the facility W-Underdogs in Atlanta, where a fire had broken out that endangered the four-legged guests.

Keith Walker, a 53-year-old homeless man, was on his way to the shelter to pick up his pit bull named Bravo, who sleeps in the facility every night, and take him for a walk. When he noticed the fire coming from the shelter's kitchen, he didn't hesitate and rushed inside to rescue the animals.

“I was nervous as hell, I'll be honest. I was really scared of going in there with all that smoke. But God put me there to save those animals, ”Walker told CNN. “If you love a dog, you can love anyone in the world. My dog is my best friend and I wouldn't be here without him, so I felt I had to save all those other dogs. "

Although the shelter was not completely destroyed by the flames, the fire rendered it unusable as Gracie Hamlin, the founder of of W-Underdogs, pointed out. Fortunately, the shelter was only a week away from moving to a new facility in Atlanta, where the dogs and cats are currently located.

Hamlin is truly grateful to Keith Walker, who has lived on the street since he was 13, for his heroic deed:

“He is my guardian angel. The firefighters didn't want to take care of the dogs either. They alerted animal protection, but Keith was already inside the building to get the cats and dogs out and put them in safety. I can't thank him enough for saving my animals. I am still in disbelief because I found myself in a fire and I know very well how quickly the flames break out. He is my hero. "

To thank Keith publicly, the W-Underdogs shelter has also decided to post a post full of gratitude on its Facebook page:

Tonight we thank our guardian angels. The homeless man that ran into our burning house and rescued our animals. The…
