The tailor-made home for disabled cats. How do you create a safe environment for a disabled cat? How do you design inspiring architectural elements when even the slightest variations in the surface can be dangerous? How to create a space in which cats, even if they lack stability, are able to maintain a balance? To answer this question is the project Meowhaus, designed by a group of young and talented architects from Spitzer School of Architecture, New York City.

Taking up the challenge of a non-profit organization that wanted to create a house designed ad hoc for 10 cats suffering from hypoplasia of the cerebellum, which compromises their motor skills, these guys wanted to put their professionalism at the service of these animals in need, giving them the opportunity to live a happy and normal life within an environment that got along well with their disability. And also with nature, since they want to make it happen with recycled materials.

"The project - explain the creators - uses recycled materials of local origin, including windows, doors, walls and roofs, recovered from unused structures, and over 100 wooden pallets from local shops. Pallets are used for the outer casing, in combination with large windows. Provides shade, ventilation and a myriad of plays of light to entertain the cats during the day “. The structure includes a litter area, a feeding area, various ramps and many kennels.

Meowhaus is thought out in every detail for the pleasure of its tenants, but the boys they need $ 3000 to continue their project: “we need funding to buy all building materials, including lumber, plywood, roofing materials, insulation, interior finishes, exterior fencing, lighting and accessories. Some grants will cover the transport of used pallets and other donated materials ”. That's why they ask to make a donation on I.niegogo.
