Record slaughter of wolves, more than 80 animals killed in a few weeks in Montana

Blood massacre (legalized) in Montana: dozens of wolves have been mercilessly killed by hunters, authorized by the Fish and Wildlife Commission. And in the famous Yellowstone Park there are only 91 specimens left

In Montana ai gray wolves the right to live is not granted. Government authorities also authorized the hunting of these animals last year. And this season, which will only end in March, is proving to be one of the bloodiest ever: in total, at least 76 wolves were killed in the Western American state, within a few weeks. A record that led to the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission to vote to introduce culling limits, at least in the southwestern region: here hunters will be allowed to kill up to 82 specimens and no more (as if it were a small number).

Many gray wolves met their deaths while wandering in the celebrated Yellowstone National Park, where bears, bison and other iconic species of the United States also live. According to reports from Yellowstone officials, in the park currently only 91 examples remain. And one herd, the Phantom Lake Pack, was considered to be completely exterminated within two months.

If Yellowstone wolves aren't safe, no wolves are safe. - denounces the American organization Wolves of the Rockies, which deals with the protection of these wild animals precious for the ecosystem - Now more than ever it is clear that wolves need to immediately obtain federal protection.

A legalized massacre

But why this absurd legalized slaughter? As in much of the United States (such as Idaho and Wisconsin), the pretext is to contain the wolf population and protect farmers and ranchers who see them as a threat to livestock.

In Montana each hunter can kill up to 20 wolves (10 by shooting them down with the rifle and others through the use of traps). An unprecedented cruelty, against which animal welfare associations have been fighting for some time.

The new laws allow the use of choke traps and extend the capture and hunting further even the breeding season. - explains the American organization Wolves of the Rockies - Montana governor Gianforte also personally slaughtered a Yellowstone wolf in violation of state law.

TW// gun shotSince wolves were delisted in 2020, wolves have been slaughtered en masse with at least 1,000 wolves being killed in 2021. Wolf packs are literal and figurative families that rely on each other for survival. What would you do if you watched helplessly as your family decimated? This was the case with the Phantom Lake Pack in Yellowstone which has been completely annihilated by hunters. The pack shown in this breathtaking photo by @brad_orsted, the Wapati Lake pack, has lost 2 wolves already with 22 Yellowstone wolves being killed so far this season. When even a single wolf is killed by unnatural causes, packs are at increased risk of dissolution. These families must be preserved. The carnage must end. The nightmare for these fascinating animals, victims of misinformation and unfounded alarmism, began in October 2020, when former US President Donald Trump approved the removal of the gray wolf from the list of endangered species. Since then, states like Idaho and Montana have taken advantage of this to authorize and encourage the mass slaughter (up to 90%) of wolf populations.

Environmentalists and animal rights activists trusted in the Biden administration's intervention, but unfortunately nothing concrete was done to protect the wolves. All this despite the fact that in states like Wisconsin there has been a collapse of about 30% of the wolf population and in Idaho even several cubs have been slaughtered in their lairs.
