England and Wales want to make it illegal to take pictures of new mothers while breastfeeding their baby in public unless requested

A gesture to say the least disrespectful that of photographing mothers intent on breastfeeding their baby outside the home without their explicit consent. A gesture that unfortunately happens more often than you think and transforms the naturalness of the maternal moment into embarrassment, frustration and violation of privacy for the woman.

It happened again in an English park when a mother, Judit Cooper, was breastfeeding her baby and she saw a man across the street taking a picture of her. The woman immediately reported the incident to the police and the case came to the attention of Labor Stella Creasy who had already had such a horrible experience on a train, but it was a young girl who photographed it.

But something is changing in the country because the bill which makes it a crime to photograph breastfeeding mothers in public without consent will soon be approved in England and Wales.

It is a victory for breastfeeding moms, but also a great starting point that demonstrates the British government's will to protect women and severely punish any case of abuse, of domestic violence, starting precisely from these unacceptable behaviors.
