Dogs and cats will be able to enter hospitals in Lazio thanks to a new regulation called "4 Zampe con te", which aims to make hospitalization less traumatic by seeing their furry friends again.
After Lombardy and Tuscany, Lazio will also allow animals to enter the hospital. The regulation, which every health facility that will activate the service will have to integrate, provides for the identification of specially dedicated areas in which the entry of animals is authorized, therefore external areas or gardens, special or waiting rooms, corridors or terraces (expressly indicating the areas closed to the access of animals).
“For us, the health of patients comes first and therefore any initiative that can help improve their condition is of fundamental importance for us”, explains the president of the Lazio Region, Nicola Zingaretti.
According to the governor, in fact, the moment of illness "is a very difficult phase to face and having at your side, in addition to relatives and loved ones, also our pets is a factor that can have very positive repercussions in the care process. and rehabilitation of patients of any age ".
We are well aware of the benefits of pet therapy and we also know that those who are forced to a long hospital stay in addition to family members, also leave their dog or cat at home and often even months pass before being able to hug them again. Having them with you, you can have one therapeutic value, rehabilitation, educational, but also playful-recreational.
In hospitals where the service will be activated, there will be special signs indicating both the areas identified and the visiting hours for animals that will be able to access the facilities only if they have a health certificate of good health (not earlier than 7 days).
The new hospital of the Castelli Romani will be the pioneer, which will open its doors at the end of the year. With the new rules - reads a press release - the goal is to minimize the inconvenience to the regular performance of the health care activity of the structure and at the same time allow the access of visiting animals to patients with evident positive effects for the process of care.
