SHARK FINNING - The practice of shark finning, which consists of cutting off the fins of the shark only to be thrown back into the sea, where animals are slowly dying from starvation or inability to move, has recently exploded around the world due to the growing demand from China, where shark fin soup is considered a delicacy.
But India, which boasts the presence in its waters of a dozen species of endangered sharks, including the hammerhead shark and the whale shark, decided to oppose. With the new regulations of the Ministry of the Environment, the fishermen who will practice this horrible hunt they will face up to seven years in prison. Those fins now need to be removed once the sharks are on land. This will at least allow for the protection of endangered species.
