Woe to throw away the shattered ceramic vases, the kintsugi technique not only allows you to repair them but makes them unique and precious. It is a Japanese artistic technique that repairs broken objects using mixtures based on gold or silver dust, but also bronze, brass or copper.

How to recycle a broken vase using this technique?

  • Get some epoxy resin and gold powder. Mix them in a bowl.
  • Spread the mixture on the crack of a first fragment, which will be immediately glued to the mating fragment. Maintain the position for a few minutes until they are well attached.
  • Continue in the same way with the other fragments of the vase until the repair is complete.

Those inspired by fairy worlds are particularly fashionable, enriched with magical doors and fairy-tale creatures. Shanty loves it naturally on her youtube channel explains how to make one in a few steps.

  • Start by pouring a layer of soil into a broken pot that will act as a container
  • Wedge smaller shards inside by inserting more soil, so as to form planes
  • Plant green plants here and there and add some moss, then make the steps with simple fragments of terracotta. Between one step and the other, place some moss
  • At the top of the garden, place a piece of bark to simulate a castle or a small house
  • All that remains is to add gnomes, fairies and other fairy tale characters

Broken vases: how to recycle them with the collage technique

The fragments of broken vases can be recycled through the collage technique. How? Covering a new vase with the collected pieces, which can be painted in various colors if desired.

If you want to get more, you can arrange the earthenware or ceramic fragments on a wooden board covered with a thick cloth, and cut them into small pieces with the help of a hammer. Be careful not to get hurt and better protect your eyes with protective work glasses.

To apply the fragments on the intact vase, you can use a resistant glue suitable for the materials used, depending on whether it is terracotta, ceramic, glass or other vases.

To obtain a result similar to the following, add the white grout between the fragments and wait for it to dry, removing the excess.
