How to build a electric toy car to entertain children and to play with them? K&J Magnetics has published on its website the instructions and video tutorials to make one magnetic toy car for children.
To build the battery K&J Magnetics used a new AA battery and a pair of magnets to place on both ends. The magnets are attracted to the steel parts of the battery.
When the battery to which the magnets have been joined is placed on aluminum foil, a electric current begins to flow through the thin backing layer. In the presence of a magnetic field, the current generates a force that sets the car in motion.
If you use magnets of the same size, the toy car goes straight, while if you use magnets of different sizes, K&J Magnetics has noticed that the toy car moves in circles.
The experiment works thanks to the presence of an electric current flow and a magnetic field loud. To create the magnetic field, the magnets are arranged with the same poles facing outwards.
Small magnets are used, because larger magnets would form a stronger magnetic field but at the same time make the toy car too heavy and difficult to move. K&J Magnetics points out that the casing around some batteries may prevent the magnets from making good electrical contact. In this case the suggestion is to place a piece of tinfoil between the magnet and the battery, thus helping to maintain good electrical contact.
