1) Take some candles. Color, shape, size can be of the most varied, the important thing is that they have been lit at least once.
2) Before melting the wax, put the candle in the freezer for about 15 minutes. Once "frozen", in fact, it will be very fragile and you can easily break it with the help of a hammer.
3) Now let's move on to stove. The kit to melt the wax consists of a stove or an electric plate, a pot with a lid, a wooden ladle and water. We advise you not to carry out these operations on the stoves that you usually use for cooking as you would risk filling them with wax, which is difficult to remove.
4) If you want to give an artistic touch to your candles, add two or more metal pots to the basic kit of point 3 so that you can melt wax of different colors at the same time which, when superimposed, will create magnificent zebra effects.
Put about two fingers of water in the pot and, as soon as it starts to boil, add the flaky wax. The water will melt the wax ensuring greater fluidity. Turn from time to time with the wooden ladle.
5) In the meantime, glue the wick to the base of the container chosen for the candle. Help yourself with a hot glue gun or, if you don't have one, you can use simple super-strong glue.
6) Pressing with a pencil adhere the metal base of the wick to the center of the container and, using a clothespin, fix it in a vertical position, perpendicular to the base as shown in the figure.
7) Is the clip too short? No problem, take the pencil and roll up the wick. The important thing is that the latter remains upright during the solidification process of the melted wax.
When the wax has completely melted you can use a thermometer to ascertain the temperature, try to keep it below 175 ° C.
8) At this point you can flavor the melted wax by adding the fragrance you prefer such as dell'essential oil or citronella.
9) It's time to pour the liquid wax. We advise you not to put it all at once because when the wax solidifies it tends to withdraw creating a central depression. Pour a first layer and wait for it to solidify, then add the second. Before moving on to the next layer, let the first one cool for at least 4 hours, then put the second layer on and let it dry.
10) If you have decided to melt wax of different colors, you can create lines by alternating the colors. Of course, always make sure that the underlying layer has solidified before moving on to the next, otherwise you risk mixing the shades with effects not always desired.
