For sure you will know the classic gingerbread houses, a much loved Christmas decoration in Northern Europe, which has also become popular with us.

If you also love them particularly, this year you could experiment with an alternative idea, that is to make them with materials other than gingerbread, namely recycled cardboard, card and paper bags.

With the houses you can create wreaths to hang at home, pack gifts, give life to a nice DIY Advent Calendar. The ideas are countless, here are the most beautiful in the name of creative recycling.

Gingerbread houses with recycled cardboard

The easiest way to make alternative gingerbread houses is to use cardboard or recycled cardboard. You can draw the houses with a pencil and cut them out with scissors, then decorate them with a white permanent marker, adding all the details.

If you feel like it, you can make a real cardboard house, cutting out the different parts and assembling them together.

The houses are suitable for creating Christmas wreaths to hang at home, just join them with a cord.

Or you can hang them on the Christmas tree, making a small hole on the top and passing a ribbon through it.
