Sprouts
Having a colander available allows you to grow sprouts without buying a sprouter. The seeds to germinate must be left to soak for 6-12 hours depending on their size, then they will be drained, placed on a colander, preferably covered with a kitchen towel, and rinsed once a day, until the sprouts have reached a length of 3 or 4 centimeters.

Rinse the vegetables in the garden
Using a colander is useful for harvesting vegetables but also for rinsing them directly in the garden. This allows you to save water. The salt will absorb the moisture and any water will collect in the bowl, which you will need to empty from time to time.
