The first victim in the Northwestern State of Wyoming Nature Reserve after 25 years: such a tragic episode hasn't happened since 1986 and probably happened because the female brown bear (known as grizzly for the shaggy hair down its back and shoulders) wanted to protect hers cub.
The bear with the baby, as reported by the Daily Telegraph, must have perceived as a threat the man who was walking the paths of the park, near the Canyon Village, together with his wife and he attacked by wounding him to death before the eyes of the woman who, terrified, tried to ask for help even with her cell phone.
"It's complicated for the area where it happened," explained park spokesman Al Nash. "It's a remote area of the park, where access and communication are limited."
At the moment no action has been taken against the mom bear while all the trails and have been closed and the rangers are attempting to evacuate the entire area from hikers. The investigators are now questioning the wife of the victim whose name will be disclosed only after the communication to the family.
