Transforming PVC pipes into flowerpots

Inspired by the vase collection by French designer Xavier, why not give new life to PVC pipes by using them for our flowers?

Il PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is one of the most common plastics and, given its extreme versatility, its uses are innumerable. For example, it can be reduced to a film or liquid to coat textile fibers, surfaces, tanks, taps or tubs. Its best known and most common applications are represented by fixtures and by pipes for building, such as gutters or water pipes. And it is precisely with regard to PVC pipes that we point out a decidedly original idea.

Solid, durable and often colored, PVC pipes stand out for their decidedly modern shapes, between thick edges and marked curves, which make them very similar to gods minimalist art opera: this is what the French designer must have thought François Xavier Ballery, given that it was from these very common pipelines that he drew inspiration for a new work, the Pretty Vase Collection.

Made for the brand Domeau&Peres, Pretty Vase Collection consists of one series of flower pots made unique of its kind by theuse of PVC and from the looks, given that it is real lacquered tubes. A colorful design collection that seems destined to adorn the living rooms of the middle and upper middle class who would do anything to keep up with trends, even the most eccentric.

The concept behind Ballery's proposal ("the profit becomes beautiful") is original, witty and interesting, to the point of being able to become aidea of creative recycling, also within the reach of those who cannot afford to buy a design piece. How? That's enough replace the official copy of the Pretty Vase Collection with a home variant, made by recovering for the occasion of the old pipes now ready to be thrown away, and perhaps lacquering them with the color you prefer or that best matches the style of the room you want to furnish. Like this, anyone can have their own original design vase, in line with the most refined and avant-garde furnishing trends, and also doing the environment a favor.

However, keeping in mind that PVC is a recyclable material and that it can have a new life even after being thrown away: by his own recycling objects and accessories such as the eco-bags that we presented to you a few weeks ago.

Finally, remember that any object capable of holding water, from the coffee can to the wine bottle, it can be reused creatively and become an original living room vase, ready to welcome your favorite flowers. It is enough to give free rein to your creativity and, with a minimum amount of raw materials and very little effort, even the most common, old and useless of objects will become a lovely piece of furniture. Seeing is believing.
