This merchant invents vegetables in the shape of Batman and Mickey Mouse to entice children to eat them

Batinopales and Mickeynopales are the invention of a Mexican man who cuts the typical local vegetable, prickly pear blades, in the shape of Batman and Mickey Mouse in order to entice little customers to eat this healthy food more often.

As is known, some children do not appreciate vegetables very much and parents are always looking for new strategies to make them eat it anyway, masking it perhaps with the help of other foods, preparing super colorful or artistic dishes or even involving the little ones in the preparation of the dishes.

In Mexico, however, and more precisely at the La Bola market, in Coyoacán, a vendor is becoming very popular thanks to his original idea that encourages children to eat vegetables and therefore is particularly popular with adults as well.

Juan Antonio Aguilar sells the ones he called Batinopales, i.e. slices of prickly pear pole (nopales, a very common vegetable in Mexico) forms the Batman e Mickeynopales, in the shape of Mickey Mouse.

The trick is simply to use molds to give the prickly pear shovels the silhouettes of the characters most loved by children. Juan Antonio cuts the pieces on the spot for those who request them.

"Now the children are the ones who ask mothers to buy them - he declared satisfied with his idea - (But also ... ed) the fifteen-year-old Chavitos (boys) buy them, they like the shape of Batman"

Some particularly satisfied customers have made Juan Antonio's idea go viral.

The only thing that we do not like it, is the choice to pack the original prickly pear shovels in plastic packaging. However, it seems that Juan Antonio is already thinking of a more ecological way to sell his creations.

The idea could also be replicated at home with other types of vegetables or fruit. It doesn't cost much to try!
