A mother has created a line of inclusive dolls that represent the disability of many children who can identify with them

Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

Children often love to play with dolls or puppets that recall aspects or qualities they recognize in themselves. However, children with disabilities will hardly find dolls on the market who, like them, are in a wheelchair, wear hearing aids, suffer from cleft lip, down syndrome or other. A mother then thought of devising a line of inclusive dolls in which her daughter (deaf) but also many other children could identify themselves.

Matilda Tawell, now 5, was diagnosed with one severe hearing loss bilateral at six weeks, which means she cannot hear in both ears and therefore wears hearing aids.

Her mother Clare, after seeing Matilda and her other daughter, Evelyn playing together with dolls, decided to buy one that the little girl could identify with, that is, equipped with a hearing aid. But it didn't exist on the market!

Then she thought of creating one herself, simply by adapting a normal doll and, after receiving this special gift, the joy of the little girl was immense. Thus was born the idea of the line of inclusive dolls, called Bright Ears UK, games that represent not only Matilda's disability but that of many other children.

The dolls, in fact, are equipped with feeding tubes, suffer from cleft lip, have ostomy bags and more. Clare basically adapted the toys to represent the different disabilities or health issues that children may have.

Mom hopes that her dolls, which have literally sold out but which she continues to make on demand, will help promote inclusiveness so that in the future these kinds of toys will also be seen more and more often in stores.
