A huge and beautiful leopard crashed into a open well in a village in Maharashtra, India.

After surviving a flight of about 14 meters, the cat found itself in deep water, with no chance of saving itself.

The villagers became aware of the animal's presence thanks to its insistent roars and contacted the officials of the Forest Department, who in turn asked for help from the volunteers of the animal rights association Wildlife SOS.

When the volunteers arrived on site, the leopard was exhausted and exhausted, after swimming for hours and hours looking for a foothold to get out of the well and stay afloat.

To save the feline, the volunteers initially lowered wooden planks on which the animal climbed and, subsequently, a sort of wooden cage to be able to lift it safely.

In video spread by the association, the leopard is visibly tired and scared but incredibly collaborative. The wonderful feline in fact seems to immediately grasp the possibility of saving itself and, without any delay, climbs on the handhold and immediately enters the cage.

Fortunately, this bad adventure ended with a happy ending for this leopard, but unfortunately it is not the first time that an animal has fallen into an open well in India.

Wildlife SOS has reported that the frequency with which its volunteers are called to rescue animals that fall into open pits is constantly increasing.

These wells can be very deep, empty or filled with dirty water, and since they are neither marked nor fenced, they pose a danger to everyone: open pits are particularly risky for leopards Indians (Panthera pardus), a species already threatened, but also represent a danger for bears, owls, hyenas, reptiles and people.

When someone falls into one of these pits, he may not survive the fall, or die after a slow agony, from fatigue or hunger.

For this, the association has launched a petition to ask local authorities to intervene by covering or reciting the area around the wells, so as to save the life of wildlife and make the areas safe for villagers as well. Anyone wishing to contribute can add their signature to the petition.
