Suffering with a metal lace around his neck. Here's what it looks like a she-bear ended up in a trap of poachers in the video of Salviamo l'orso, the association that deals with the conservation of the Marsican species.

She was saved by one certain death because for some time the bear had been wandering in the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise with a steel cable around its neck, which had caused very bad wounds.

Today, thanks to the park guardians and the contribution of the non-profit organization Salviamo l'orso, she was captured, cared for and set free. It all started when the staff in the area reported the presence of an injured bear.

The various sighting attempts had not given good results, so we switched to monitoring through the use of video traps. Only at the end of August, during the counting of the females with the young, did the forest police of the Picinisco department manage to identify the animal.

The bear is a 10-year-old specimen weighing about 80 kg with large and deep wounds in the neck caused by the noose of the poachers.

"This is one of the contributions that our association has produced in its action aimed at the protection of that extraordinary zoological entity, unique in the world, which is the Marsican brown bear, a contribution of which we are proud", explains a note from Salviamo. the bear.

“We share this video in the hope that more and more people will become aware of the need for counteract actively this cruel practice, denouncing the presence of laces and those who use them to the competent authorities ", concludes the note.

According to the WWF, which has been promoting the Save the Brown Bear campaign for some time, over 100 bears have died since the XNUMXs in the Abruzzo Park alone. Accidents, shots, snares and poison are the weapons used by man to exterminate these splendid specimens.

A silent massacre that is seriously endangering the survival of the entire species.
