Urgently operated for the removal of a large tumor. A Saint Bernard risked his life. After being diagnosed by the vets, the dog underwent surgery but there was no tumor in his stomach at all. The puppy had ingested not one but four Teddy Bears, the famous teddy bears.
Maisy, who looks like the cute little Beethoven dog from the film, is 8 years old. Her human friends almost faced the prospect of losing their beloved pet when an ultrasound showed them what appeared to be a tumor.
The tests showed that the dog's stomach was full and a mass was pressing on the spleen. This led the vet to diagnose possible cancer. Maisy was hospitalized for the removal of the spleen and to understand the extent of the tumor.
But when the vets operated on him, they found something a little less troubling than cancer. Maisy had managed to swallow four teddy bears.
The operation to remove them was not easy at all but now the dog is better. It is possible that Maisy stole the soft toys of the family's Chihuahuas, Mabel and Guinness.
Wakefield Veterinary Surgeon Nick Blackburn of Paragon Veterinary Referral has explained:
“It's fair to say it wasn't something we expected to find! We all know that some dogs love to chew things they shouldn't, but being able to devour four teddy bears is a feat. "
Maisy is now happy and healthy and has returned home. A surreal story, which luckily ended with a happy ending.
