Sprout: stop it with the pencil! A seed in the mine for reuse

A flower can be born from a pencil. We are talking about the curious project launched by a group of students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who have decided to experiment with a way to give new life to pencils that are now too small to be used. What if there was a seed inside them and they could therefore be planted?

From one pencil a flower. We are talking about the curious project launched by a group of students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who have decided to experiment with a way to give new life to pencils now too small to be used. What if there was a seed within them and they could therefore be planted?

A similar idea must have guided the MIT students, who so thought of give life to a pencil which, once no longer usable for writing or drawing, can be buried and give life to one new basil seedling, of peppers, or simply to a flower. The pencil bears the name of Sprout (sprout) and the project that sees it at the center will be financed through the collective fundraising platform (crowdfunding) Kikcstarter.

The project has already found the financial support of almost 2000 supporters, who have been able to offer their voluntary contribution for the birth of Sprout. The pencil will have a special one at its end capsule containing a seed (which can be basil, thyme, pepper, tomato, etc.) and it must be planted upside down inside a jar with soil.

Then it will be enough to water it normally as for any other plant to be able to see a little miracle of nature, as well as technology and imagination. It will be necessary to proceed to regular watering for a week to be able to witness the birth of the first sprout, as the creators of Sprout were able to personally verify.

The capsule containing the semen was placed in the position where the gum would normally have been. Each specimen of Sprout will be handmade and with extreme care. The collective and collaborative fundraising experiment will allow his large-scale production.

The initial amount necessary for the realization of the project, established at 25 thousand dollars, has already been far exceeded and within the next 33 hours, after which the collection will be considered completed, the 35mila U.S. dollars. This is an unexpected result that demonstrates how much the project has been appreciated by web users and that a good idea, if supported by a large group of supporters, can be realized by gathering the necessary resources in a short time.
