Fierce, fearsome, aggressive. Pit bulls have this fame but to disprove it, as well as those who live with these splendid ones dogs, the story we are about to tell you takes care of it. A story with a happy ending thanks to Slayer, the dog who saved the lives of two children from the poison of a snake.
It happened in Florida, where Melissa Butt was in the garden with her grandchildren. The pit bull Slayer was with the two little ones, 4-year-old Zayden and one-year-old Mallory, and the other family dog, Paco.
At one point, the woman heard Slayer bark and rushed to see what was happening. The two dogs didn't seem to calm down, so Melissa brought the children inside and went back to check. The pit bull had spotted a poisonous snake in the grass, right next to the area where the babies were playing.
The two dogs were crushing the snake which in turn bit them. Slayer got a bite on his face while Paco was grazed on a paw.
"It was then that Slayer grabbed the snake in the mouth and killed it," said the woman.
Soon after, Melissa took the dogs to her vet as the poison was now circulating. The situation of both appeared serious enough. Slayer's face was swollen and he was breathing hard.
Paco was able to go home after just one night in the hospital but the pit bull needed hospitalization. The animal in fact risked its life despite the anti-poison treatment.
“Watching him suffer was devastating,” says Butt.
Various doses of antivenin and other cures allowed Slayer to to survive. Even though her face hasn't completely returned to normal yet, the pit bull overall is fine and last Wednesday he returned to his family.

Waiting for him, in addition to Melissa and her husband White, there were also the two little ones, saved by Slayer.
