A common situation in Poland and documented by ainvestigation by the Daily Mail; in the country, only in the past seven years have they been illegally sold over three thousand puppies to UK families. Theoretically, puppies would not be able to leave the country before they have received the necessary vaccinations. Puppies should therefore be vaccinated for rabies when they reach twelve weeks of age; after that, you have to wait another three weeks to enter the United Kingdom.
However, as demand for purebred puppies in the UK outstrips supply, several breeders and traders don't hesitate to falsify documents of puppies, so as to be able to speed up times and increase profits.
The dogs come bought by the hundreds and often they are puppies with health problems. To be able to cross the border and reach the United Kingdom, birth dates and dates are falsified vaccination certifications, with the collaboration of corrupt veterinarians. The animals are thus in good standing on paper and can leave the country and then be sold at high prices to unsuspecting English families.
While waiting for the documents, the dogs are not fed, they are not given water, they do not receive health care, they are left stored in the cold as a commodity. The puppies are then forced to face a long and exhausting journey; if they survive, their photos and descriptions will appear on some online bulletin board and can be purchased at affordable prices.
Il smuggling of puppies yields thousands of euros and does not only concern Polish breeders, but involves hundreds of people who get rich by making money on the lives of sentient beings, escaping controls.
Although they exist more and regulations, stopping the illegal puppy trade is very difficult and, in addition to endangering the lives of thousands of puppies, exposes them to the risk of rabies outbreaks and other diseases in the countries where the puppies are welcomed.
To counter this phenomenon, however, there is something that each of us can do: do not buy baby animals. Dogs and cats are not objects for which to agree on size, color and price; they are living beings and should be treated as such. Kennels and catteries are literally full of animals looking for a family and a home and, by turning to these structures, you avoid financing unscrupulous traders who profit on the life of others.
