Have you ever tried to take a taxi with babies and children in tow? Finding vehicles equipped with child seats is really impossible. This starts even though we all know by now that theIn the car, children should always be well seated, tied up and protected.
And not, trivially, to avoid even hefty fines, but above all to protect the little ones as much as possible even when they travel: the child seat is in fact the only tool capable of protecting them in the event of a road accident. For this reason, a petition was launched on change.org to ask the Ministry of Transport to make it available also on taxis. To date, in fact, as stated on the website of the State Police, this obligation does not exist, on the contrary:
"In the case of cars used for the public transport service (for example in a taxi or rental with driver) children with a height of less than 1.50 meters can circulate, not restrained by special restraint systems, only in the back seat and always accompanied by a passenger aged 16 or over. A second exception concerns vehicles that have not installed seat belts from the start (for example some vintage cars). It is forbidden to transport children under the age of 3 on these cars. The others (from 3 years upwards) can instead be carried in the back seat, without special requirements, and in the front seat only if they are over 1,50 meters in height. However, these solutions obviously do not save life in the event of an accident ”.
Yet, there are several parents who, especially in the cities and especially if they are alone, use the taxi with their children to move from one point to another. Also because in large urban centers more and more families are giving up on owning their own car. But unfortunately, it is rare, and almost impossible, for taxis to provide child seats for smaller users, even if you book the ride in advance and explicitly request it from the exchanges.

Yet, it should be clear to everyone by now how much it is It is dangerous to make children travel in cars without child seats: the arms of an adult are not at all safe e the risk of trauma and fatal accidents is certainly not eliminated in the city, but it is also present when traveling at the speed of a few kilometers per hour. Furthermore, children should not only be seated in car seats, but they should also be well tied, so as to benefit from maximum protection.

Hence, the idea of some mothers to launch a petition addressed to the Ministry of Transport and the Cantrali taxi, with the aim of offering greater guarantees to those traveling with children, making it mandatory the availability of seats in taxis at least to those who book the ride in advance.
Because the safety of the little ones should be everyone's priority.
