However, hyper-technology is accompanied by a downside not to be underestimated, which consists in the creation of tools that for its own functioning do not require electricity, but of the simple kinetic energy generated by movement.
The kinetic energy generated by a pedal stroke allows, for example, the switching on of the spotlight on your bicycle. A ride, however, requires a certain effort and no one would imagine that it is possible operate a mechanism useful simply remaining seated. From such an intuition a new curious invention was born.
It is a rocking chair on which to sit comfortably to read a book, talk on the phone, watch television or just chat and relax. While sitting on the rocking chair, mechanisms are activated that allow the automatic start of the weaving of a cap suitable for winter.
The invention has been dubbed the “Rocking Knit Chair”, a rocking chair that can knit for you while you are comfortably seated on it. The project for its realization was conceived by Damien Rudy e Colin Peillex, two students of the University of Art and Design of Lausanne (ECAL).
It was presented during the event Designer’s Saturday held in Langenthal, in Switzerland. The rocking chair is capable of making a winter cap that will take shape just above the head of those sitting on it, to demonstrate how even low-tech inventions can be surprising and how theOzio may actually reveal itself unexpectedly process.
