An immense expanse of fiori colored. A feast for the eyes. We are in California where some lucky ones have had the opportunity to admire the super-bloom. An event given the severe drought that has hit the US state in recent times.
Yellow, red, purple, orange, all seasoned with a green expanse. The Carrizo plain national monument is experiencing this exceptional flowering, at an altitude of 700 meters inland between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara.
This area is considered semiarid. The drought has hit Carrizo Plain hard in recent years but in this 2017 a little has happened miracle: the rain has returned to wet these fields. Nature has taken care of the rest, sprinkling its colors through the endemic wild flowers of the area.
A real explosion that came practically suddenly, as often happens in arid and desert areas wet by rain.

“The valley floor has endless expanses of yellow and purple coreopsis, phacelia, and small patches of dozens of other species,” explains Bob Wick, photographer and expert with the Bureau of Land Management. “Not to be outdone, the --Tremor it is painted with stripes of orange, yellow and purple, as if it were a storybook. I have never seen such a spectacular array of blooms. Never".
The race to Carrizo Plain has already started between Americans and tourists. The areas dedicated to campers are selling out.
And no wonder given the splendid and rare natural setting, a real work of art.
