This is what happened at the Parma hospital where a singular orchestra, made up of very young people, performed with very lively rhythms, delighting the little patients.
In the departments of Pediatrics and Oncohematology of the Children's Hospital "Pietro Barilla”In Parma, in recent days it was possible to witness a very original show, the one offered by'Casa Cello Orchestra, composed of violins, cellos, flutes, saxes and trumpets, all played by young and very young people.
The little hospitalized patients therefore had the opportunity to be cheered by their peers, led by Jalica Jo, founder, together with maestro Andrea Marras, of the Youth Orchestra.
Very attentive, all the children present but also the parents and the medical staff, followed the concert which was mainly composed of Latin rhythms (tango and cha-cha-cha) but in which there were also more classic performances such as the triumphal march of the Aida.
The orchestra managed to shake the hearts of young and old and at the end of the concert the hospitalized children also had the opportunity to try out the musical instruments.
“We were very pleased to be able to play for the children of Parma pediatrics. The musicians were very excited, and I have to say more the adults than the kids. We strongly believe in the power of music and in fact we start with very young children and we continue to make music with all those who dream of becoming musicians, regardless of age ”said Jalica Jo.
This beautiful event was made possible thanks to the coordination of Marzia Fusi, music education teacher of the school in the hospital who said:
"Music is a fantastic therapy to support children and young people hospitalized and I thank the University Hospital of Parma which, sharing this philosophy, allows us to organize these events"
In fact, several researches have shown the benefits of music therapy in the hospital and some projects of this type are aimed precisely at small patients in pediatric wards. At Sant'Orsola in Bologna, for example, this technique is used to help children overcome anxiety and sadness, to feel less pain but also to better cope with nausea associated with anticancer therapies.
This initiative is particularly beautiful because it was the children themselves, thanks to their passion and their musical talent, who made a day in the hospital more enjoyable for their peers, struggling with demanding treatments and therapies.
